Nice to see the Journal is helping with education by employing middle school students as writers.

"The most outrageous call occurred about 3 a.m. two days before Christmas. The pager went off in White's bedroom. It was so loud that one of White's two dogs, Lilly, jumped up and started having seizures."

If only there was some way to stop pagers from making noise during the night. Some kind of "off button" or "volume control" . Ah, well, we can dream.

I can't believe these rude journalists would turn up the volume on the sheriff's pager. What won't they do?
